Terms of service
1. Who we are
Meilu operates a marketplace that connects people who have a home to sublet with people who need one, in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. We don't own the apartments, we don't take custody of keys or cash, and we don't sign the sublet on anyone's behalf. The agreement is between renter and host.
2. Using Meilu
You need a verified phone number to book or host. You agree to use the platform honestly — real photos, real dates, real identity. Fake listings, scraped listings, or unauthorised bots are grounds for removal. One account per person; one person per account.
3. Money
Meilu does not process payments in this version of the platform. Rent and deposit are settled in cash (or via a local transfer method both parties agree to) at handoff. We recommend getting a signed receipt for anything paid. If payment is ever introduced, a separate addendum will apply.
4. Cancellations
Cancellations follow the policy at /legal/cancellation. Because there's no escrow on Meilu, the policy defines what is owed between renter and host — Meilu doesn't move money, but we record cancellations in our ledger so both sides have a paper trail.
5. Disputes
If a booking goes sideways, either party can open a dispute via the booking page. A Meilu editor will read both sides within one business day. Our resolution is non-binding — we don't substitute for Israeli consumer-protection or small-claims law. If that path is the right one, we'll say so.
6. Acceptable use
No discrimination based on protected classes (see Nondiscrimination). No harassment. No use of Meilu to arrange meetings unrelated to actually subletting a home. No sharing of private contact details of other users outside the in-app messaging.
7. Liability
Meilu is provided as-is. We're not responsible for the condition of any apartment, disputes between parties, or the behaviour of guests or hosts. Insurance is on you — consider contents insurance for long stays.
8. Changes
We'll update these terms as the product evolves. Material changes get emailed to every account. Continued use after the effective date counts as acceptance.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel. Any formal dispute heads to the courts of Tel Aviv-Yafo.
